Farey Sequences and the Planar Euclidean Medial Axis Test Mask

چکیده
The Euclidean test mask T (r) is the minimum neighbourhood sufficient to detect the Euclidean Medial Axis of any discrete shape whose inner radius does not exceed r. We establish a link between T (r) and the well-known Farey sequences, which allows us to propose two new algorithms. The first one computes T (r) in time O(r) and space O(r). The second one computes for any vector − →v the smallest r for which − →v ∈ T (r), in time O(r) and constant space.

Appearance Radii in Medial Axis Test Mask for Small Planar Chamfer Norms
The test mask TM is the minimum neighbourhood sufficient to extract the medial axis of any discrete shape, for a given chamfer distance mask M. We propose an arithmetical framework to study TM in the case of chamfer norms. We characterize TM for 3×3 and 5×5 chamfer norm masks, and we give an algorithm to compute the appearance radius of the vector (2, 1) in TM.
متن کاملVisible Vectors and Discrete Euclidean Medial Axis
We denote by M R the test neighbourhood sufficient to extract the Euclidean Medial Axis of any n-dimensional discrete shape whose inner radius is no greater than R. In this paper, we study properties of discrete Euclidean disks overlappings so as to prove that in any given dimension n, M R tends to the set of visible vectors as R tends to infinity.
متن کاملScale Filtered Euclidean Medial Axis
We propose an Euclidean medial axis filtering method which generates subsets of Euclidean medial axis were filtering rate is controlled by one parameter. The method is inspired by Miklos’, Giesen’s and Pauly’s scale axis method which preserves important features of an input object from shape understanding point of view even if they are at different scales. Our method overcomes the most importan...

متن کاملMedial axis lookup table and test neighborhood computation for 3D chamfer norms
Chamfer distances are discrete distances based on the propagation of local distances, or weights, defined in a mask. The medial axis, i.e. the centers of maximal balls (balls which are not contained in any other ball), is a powerful tool for shape representation and analysis. The extraction of maximal disks is performed in the general case by testing the inclusion of a ball in a local neighborh...
